The first of the bees is the Scrips National Spelling Bee. The 5-8 graders took a written test and then an oral test. Next, the teachers took the best 11 scores from the grades. The 11 competed in another Spelling Bee until it got down to 6 students. This Bee is still not over. The winner Gracie Wild will compete in Thorp at the Regional Bee. The top spellers there will advance to the state competition.
The second bee is the National Geographic Geography Bee. The students took a written bee all together in the church basement and an oral test in their classrooms. The 10 that got the best scores competed in the church basement. After long sudden-death rounds between the two finalists there was a champion determined. The school champion is Zach Hunt. Zach took an online test to see if he is eligible for the state competition.
