Students look forward to spending time in the newly updated study room. It's a warm, welcoming area to work! The students have enjoyed seeing all of their friends again and meeting the new teacher, Mrs. Zoromski. Mrs. Zoromski is teaching 7th and 8th grades. We welcome her to our school! Here's to a fabulous year for all of the teachers and students.

The fifth through eighth grade students worked very hard researching information for each of their countries. Each of them found many unique facts about his/her country. After their months of hard work, they had a few different sharing days. The students got to have a buffet of food from all the different countries. On April fifth and sixth, the students got to share their Festival of the Nations boards with the younger and older students. The boards were then displayed over the weekend for the families of the parish to see. Overall, the fifth through eighth grade students did a great job of educating themselves and others of their countries. This year grandparents day was on April 27, 2018. Mass was held at 8:30 A.M. After Mass, the students and grandparents went downstairs for snacks and the students performed in a small program. The first and second grade students sang "Who Built the Ark" The third and fourth grade students sang "Its a Beautiful Day" and "Lots in Common". The fifth and sixth graders sang "There's Something About That Song". The seventh and eighth grade girls sang "Silent the Forest" and "Rock Me to Sleep". The seventh grade boys and Matthew Dachel sang "Sixteen Tons". Last the whole school sang "Who Did Swallow Jonah".
On April 25, 2018, the fifth through eight graders had a forensics night. This was the Twentieth Annual Forensics Night. The students were assigned into groups of two and three and they memorized a short skit. They were all very funny. There were eleven total performances. Some of the topics included siblings fighting, Goldilocks, people attempting to camp in the woods, and many more. There was also a short intermission with punch and cookies. The students had a lot fun. It was a lot of work, but it was worth it in the end.
Students from 4th-7th grade, are busy as bees writing and putting together their conservation speeches! They have come up with all sorts of interesting things to talk about: water pollution, erosion, light pollution, you name it! These speeches will cover a certain topic, why is it good or bad, a bit more info about the topic, and and why it should be encouraged/eliminated. These are very interesting topics to learn about. People can really learn some important things from these speeches. They can learn how to make the world a better place and follow these examples given by the young students. There were brilliant young minds that made these speeches! In the next school year, the students will share their own speeches with the school.
Jump Rope for Heart is a fun activity that benefits the American Heart Association. Before the event the students are encouraged to collect pledges from family and friends. The money collected supports the American Heart Association. The entire school participates in this jump roping event. It took place in the Church basement on Friday, March 16, from 12:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. The students were all split into groups. The seventh and eighth graders were the leaders of the groups. When the students were not jumping it was a good time for them to work on homework and to visit with their schoolmates. This March for our monthly Magic School House gathering, we learned about vocations. Monsignor came in and talked to us students about this topic. He talked about the three stages of Holy Orders: deacon, priest, and bishop. He explained what it takes to become each of these things. He told us that each of us have a vocation, but we have to pray to God and ask Him what that vocation is. Monsignor also read us some of the rites used at different ceremonies. To wrap up this gathering, we watched a short video about the process of electing a new pope. We did a short craft project to go along with this topic, too. Mrs. C's Birthday is February 11, but we celebrated it on the February 9. In the morning all of the classrooms gathered together in the 1st and 2nd grade classroom to sing "Happy Birthday" to her. Right at the end of the song, the band students even joined in playing their instruments. The 8th graders were in charge of bringing the birthday treat; they brought donuts! Everyone had a great time. We were glade we were able to celebrate Mrs. C's birthday, and we hope she has a great year.
The Sweetheart Pancake Breakfast was held on February 18, 2018. This was the 16th annual pancake breakfast. The breakfast menu included; pancakes, french toast, sausage, eggs, ham, toast, and doughnuts. The beverages, included orange juice, coffee, and milk. Many of St.Peter's students helped clear the tables. They can use this project as a service in their service journals. WEAU came to interview Mrs. Carrie Geissler because she and Mrs. Roxanne Swoboda were the organizers of the event. This money from the pancake breakfast goes to the St. Peter School. |
