Last month we began practicing for our Christmas play. We started out only a little of practice a day but now we are practicing all afternoon. We were not that good to start, but now we have improved a lot. The seventh and eighth graders sing one song with the fifth and sixth graders and one with the whole school. The third and forth graders sing one song and play another song on their recorders, and the first and second graders sing two songs. Now we have a week to practice and we need a lot of work. We have the dress rehearsal on Friday and the real one is on Sunday. All are invited to the dress rehearsal on Friday at 12:45 PM and to the performance on Sunday at 12:45 PM.
This November, the Bloomer VFW came to our school to teach the fifth through eighth graders how to raise, fold, and just generally handle the flag. We started in the church basement. They taught us that each fold when folding a flag has a meaning. They told us their many stories from the Vietnam War. One of these was quite interesting. We learned tat when the Americans got new soldiers in their camps in Vietnam, the enemies would shell the camps just to scare the living daylights out of the newbies. That wouldn't be too fun! After this the VFW took us out to the flagpole to show us how to raise the flag properly. We learned a lot. |
