All of the students in school got together for our monthly Magic Schoolhouse activity. The seventh and eighth graders led skits with the younger students. These skits were about the birth of Jesus Christ. Each group read the Bible verses of the nativity scene before they performed. Each scene had a different leader and group. These scenes included: Gabriel coming to Mary and Joseph, the wise men following the star, the angels visiting the shepherds, and the Holy Family fleeing to Egypt. Everyone had fun creating different props for their characters. The students also enjoyed watching the different groups perform.
The seventh and eighth graders completed a science lab working with centripetal force. Each group made a rocket. It was a water bottle propped up by three pencils. They filled each bottle about three-fourths full with vinegar. Next, they dumped baking soda into the bottle and quickly put it upside down on the blacktop outside of school. Two of the rockets did not launch. The other two shot straight up into the air! It was a very fun science project, and they all hope to do more again soon.
