We celebrated Catholic Schools Week from January 30-February 3.  We had dress-up days, Open House, Student Appreciation Day, and Teacher Appreciation Day.  One day was spent at a rally at McDonell High School with other area Catholic Schools.  Schools from Chippewa Falls, Bloomer, and Boyd were there having fun.

An Alternate Field Trip

In January, the 5th through 8th grade students were scheduled to go on a field trip to the Chippewa Moraine Ice Age Center in New Auburn.  They were looking forward to a day of snowshoeing, cooking over a campfire, and voyageur games.  Unfortunately, due to expected icy weather the trip was cancelled.  All hope wasn't lost though! Due to some wonderful parents, the students still were able to have a campfire so they could roast their hot dogs and marshmallows.  Lunch was enjoyed outside in the pavilion and the afternoon was spent outside playing a bunch of games in the snow.  Although it wasn't the trip that was planned, a fun afternoon was still had by all.

A Couple of Bees

During the month of January 5th through 8th grades participated in 2 different Bees.
They began by participating in the Scripps National Spelling Bee.  All students took a written test that was followed by an oral test in the classroom. The top 11 spellers then competed to be the school winning speller.  After 24 rounds of spelling, Rebecca Baier and Drew Hunt were the top two spellers in the school.  Rebecca will go to Thorp on February 15 to compete at the regional level.  Drew will get to go also as an alternate.  Congratulations to all spellers!
The second Bee the students participated in was the National Geography Bee sponsored by National Geographic.  The students again took both a written and oral test in the classroom.
