On Tuesday, January 23, the 5th-8th graders were supposed to go on a field trip to the Ice Age Center. Chippewa had a two hour delay that day and due to the weather, the trip was cancelled. Instead, the students enjoyed an afternoon outside. The students had hot dogs for lunch in the church basement. They were disappointed that they were not able to cook the hot dogs and roast marshmallows over the fire, but lunch was still good. In the afternoon, they played games to imitate the games played at the Ice Age Center. The students did a relay race, tug-a-war, and a game of tag. The rest of the day was free time, and the students played in the snow. It was not the field trip they were expecting, but they still had fun. The field trip was also cancelled last year do to bad weather, so pray for good weather next year!
The Tilden Lions Christmas party was held on December 15 at 7:00 PM. Some of St.Peter's students volunteered to sing for the Lions Club. The Lions Club members really enjoyed the show. Mrs. Wild took some of the songs from the play and the students sang them. There were snacks that the Lions Club members enjoyed also. The school students were very enthused to do this. This was because the Lions Club gives so much to our school.
The play was held on December 10 2017. The play went well this year, especially with such little time to prepare! Before the play, there were instrumental solos and each class sang a song. Everyone knew what they where doing and did it very well. This years title was "Once Upon A Starry Night." It was about Comet Powell who was a star that led the shepherds and wise men to Jesus. He is telling the story to some "twinkled out" stars. He inspires them to shine their very best. In the end Santa Clause came and gave candy canes to all the kids.
In December, the school participated in the Spirit of Christmas toy drive. Families in the school brought in money for the family that we received. The eighth graders used the money and went shopping for a three child family. We shopped for two boys and one girl. We raised enough money for each child to receive $100 in gifts. Mrs. Bowe and Mrs. Christopher took us to Shopko and helped us shop for each child. We were able to get them a variety of gifts including toys, clothes, shoes, and books. thanks to your generosity these three children were able to have a wonderful Christmas.
